The Shadow

When her SHADOW comes to life, a determined girl embarks upon a spine-tingling adventure through Morocco and confronts the duality of human nature, in this twist on a story by Hans Christian Andersen.

If only 12-year-old CHARLOTTE hadn’t gotten into trouble at school, she’d be living it up at the beach with her bestie, instead of spending the worst summer vacation ever at a slightly run-down riad in Marrakech. Forced to accompany her father, THOMAS, on a diplomatic mission to Morocco, Charlotte is left alone when he’s working, with only the caretaker’s wife, JASMINE, for company.

Charlotte longs to roam freely, like the Shadow she casts onto the balcony of a mysterious house across the way. She sneaks out to explore the Night Market and befriends a Moroccan boy, KADIR. One night Shadow disappears into the mysterious house, returning with unsettling tales about Thomas, who’d failed to return from his conference.

Shadow convinces Charlotte to follow her father’s trail on an exotic adventure, leading to a confrontation with a PRINCE of the dangerous Mechant Kingdom during a festival in Tangiers. Charlotte must discern hard truths, both about herself and those she loves, before she can rescue her beloved, if flawed, father.
